What is this blog?

Hello and welcome to my blog! Before I start, I would really like to fill you guys in on what this blog is really about and why I am so excited to pour my heart and soul into this blog.

Being a teen can be SO. HARD. Major kudos to anyone who can confidently say that they have their life together and their life is going just fine. From one dazed and confused teen to another, this task is physically and mentally impossible. How does one obtain the time to juggle school, sports, clubs, extracurriculars, a social life, friends, boys, volunteering, having perfect skin, hair, makeup, trendy clothes, a clean Pinterest inspired room, social media, traveling, working out at cool workout spots, taking baths with bath bombs, going to the farmers market, browsing a museum, know what is going on in the news, reading a book, drinking gourmet coffee, eating three meals a day eligible for an artsy areal shot for the insta, AAAAND sleeping 8-10 hours a day…

Quite literally, ain’t nobody got time for that.

And that is where I come in. I get it, I am 16, I have barely scratched the surface of life and don’t even know what I am doing in the next 5 minutes, let alone know what the heck I am going to do with my life. I am human. We all are. But, I want to be a real, raw, authentic outlet to look to when life gets messy and you need a little help and positivity. Girl, I gotchu. Or if you have no idea what is the hip and hopping trend and where you can get it on a banging budget. Or where a cool place to take pics and get some good food is? Boom, I gotchu again. If you want someone to tell it to you on the real every Saturday, this is the place for you.

It’s scary how often we get caught up in social media and feel that this daunting and intimidating list of demands becomes longer and more fatiguing. We all have that day where social media just makes us feel down in the dumps and makes us question if we are good enough. I hate that the media is deemed as a place consumed with such negativity and hate, when it has the potential to be a platform to communicate and be kind to one another. I know it sounds so wishy washy to say that, but it’s the truth and we all know it.

With its countless flaws, the internet has changed our lives for the better too. Think of a life without the internet, or just ask your parents and I can guarantee they will give you a mouthful of scenarios when they didn’t have the internet. 😉 So here’s my question, why does social media have such a bad reputation?

I know this is getting a little lengthy, so I am going to sum things up for you right here: the key to balancing life is gratitude. Wow, Madison, so creative. I know it sounds basic but it is SO true, hence why my handle is eversoshankful. Not just because it rhymes with my last name (well…;)) but it is because we are all so blessed up and we don’t even know it. The fact that you have a device and are able to read this means you are so fortunate. I am not saying that you have to drop everything and volunteer your life away, but just take a moment to be grateful for all the little things, because you have so much to be shankful for. 🙂 I look at other bloggers and boss babes much smarter and cooler than me, and what makes them standout is their appreciation for all they got and where they are right now. Honestly goals.

So, with that being said, I am not a life coach or inspirational speaker or anything, but life is so freaking precious, and so amazing. I love my friends, my family, where I live, and love life. Why wouldn’t I be? Do what makes you happy. Buy the dress, kiss the boy, get the grade, stand up, and be awesome. Be the best you you want to be. You got the whole world in the literally standing right in front of you. Life is too short to let other people stand in the way of what you love. Peace out, my friends, I would like to end this ranty welcome with a quote:

“It is not the happy people who are thankful. It is the thankful people who are happy.”

Be shankful.

xo, Madison
